In 2005 the Royal Mint released a Proof 12 Coin collection of the present coinage of the United Kingdom.  This coin collection incorporates Proof specimens of the circulating range of United Kingdom coins for 2005.

In addition to the standard versions, this collection also contains the 2005 £2 and 50p coins celebrating respectively the 400th anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot and the 250th anniversary of the publication of Samuel Johnson's dictionary.

The 2005 £1 coin, the second in the series of four featuring bridges from the constituent parts of the United Kingdom, represents Wales and features the Menai Bridge.

The 2005 £5 coins, The Battle of Trafalgar and Admiral Lord Nelson are also included in this striking set.

The collection includes: 2 x £5, 2 x £2, £1, 2 x 50p, 20p, 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p coins.

These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
The coins come presented in a striking case, which doubles as a display case, accompanied by a booklet and certificate of authenticity.
