2018 Silver Proof Dollar - 240th Anniversary Captain Cook

This $1 coin is 99.99% pure silver, with a diameter of 36.07 millimetres and a nominal metal weight of 23.17 grams.

The reverse design by Candian artist John Horton features an artistic rendering of Captain James Cook (1728-1779) arriving at Nookta Sound in April 1778.  The search for the Northwest Passage has brought HMS Resolution (left) and HMS Discovery (right) to Canada;s western shores, where the Nuu-chah-nulth people cordially greet the British expedition.  The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

A certificate accompanies the 2018 $1 coin confirming its proof quality and that it is authorised by the Government of Canada.  The coin has been expertly struck by the Royal Canadian Mint and has a limited mintage worldwide. 

The coin is encapsulated and presented in the original Royal Canadian Mint maroon clam shell box.
