This £5 GOLD Proof Crown was struck by the Royal Mint to commemorate the centenary year of the Queen Mother.
The reverse shows a beautiful portrait of the Queen Mother by Ian Rank-Broadley, and to symbolise the Queen Mothers century he has worked cheering crowds in the background, those in Victorian dress rejoicing at her birth and those in modern dress celebrating her 100th year. Below the portrait appears a representation of her signature. The obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the date 2000.
The GOLD Proof is encapsulated and is in its original burgandy velvet case of issue. Also included is a certificate of authenticity and a booklet with many pictures of the Queen Mother and her life, there is also a case sleeve which shows a lovely picture of the Queen Mother.
Limited to an edition limit of 3000, these pieces will not be seen in the market place too often. This is a one of the best GOLD Proof Crowns that the Royal Mint has issued to date, and is sure to enhance anyone's collection
