This five pound gold proof coin, issued in 2015, celebrates Queen Elizabeth II achieving the record of being the longest reigning Monarch. Surpassing the previous record held by Queen Victoria.
This gold five pound coin contains 39.94g of 22ct gold (36.61 grams of fine Gold). It was designed on both sides by James Butler, who is best known as the designer of the Queen's Great Seal of the Realm. Unusually, it doesn't feature the official portrait of the Queen, instead using Butler's take on Her Majesty on the obverse and a depiction of the St. Edward's Crown, worn for coronations, on the reverse.
NOTE - There is a distinctive spot on the Obverse, and we think this is on the actual coin and not just the plastic, hence it being only garded a PR69. However it is still a fine example of this 'one off' Crown. If you think this is likely to bother you then please do not purchase, as we are offing the item 'as described' here, and will not be accepting returns on this basis.
