A beautiful coin from the first Discover Australia gold proof coin series, depicting Australian fauna.
Minted and inspected by the Perth Mint, the 2006 dated coin is struck from 1/10oz of 99.99% pure gold and is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The coin's reverse depicts a Saltwater Crocodile. The world's largest reptile, a "saltie" is capable of growing to between six and seven metres and weighing up to 1,000 kilograms. Distributed across tropical northern Australia, this fearsome creature inhabits fresh and salt water, and will stalk any human foolish enough to swim in its vicinity.
The reverse design includes the year date and The Perth Mint's traditional "P" mintmark. The coin's obverse bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
No more than 2,500 of these 1/10oz gold coins will be released by the Perth Mint.
The coin is encapsulated and presented in a beautiful wooden box, with a certificate of authenticity and outer box.
