The design of the reverse, by Ontario artist David Craig, portrays the heads of a Huron and the profile of a missionary.  The site of Sainte-Marie among the Hurons is also depicted.

The legend "1639 Sainte-Marie 1989" appears at the top of the coin while the words "Canada 100 dollars" are inscribed at the bottom of the coin.

The Canadian $100 gold proof coin has a diameter of 26.9mm and weighs 13.338 grams of which 7.775 grams (1/4 Troy oz) are pure gold.  The precious metal legal tender coin contains 58.3% pure gold and 41.7% pure silver.

A certificate attests that the Canadian 1989 $100 gold coin is a proof coin of legal tender authroised by the Government of Canada and struck by the Royal Canadian Mint.

The coin is encapsulated and presented in the original Royal Canadian Mint brown case, complete with outer box.
