The United States Mint certifies that this coin is a genuine 1988 Olympic Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar, struck in accordance with legislation passed by Congress and signed by the President on October 28, 1987, as Public Law 100-141. This coin was produced by the United States Mint to commemorate America's participation in the 1988 Olympic Games.

The obverse design of the 1988 Olympic features Liberty's Torch and the Olympic Torch merging in a single flame, with the words "Olympiad" and "Liberty."

The reverse design features the U.S. Olympic Team logo, framed by olive branches.

The coin is housed in a plastic capsule placed on a maroon felt tray within a maroon velvet presentation case with hinged lid on which was mounted a plaque of a heraldic eagle. The case is in a maroon cardboard box imprinted with the Great Seal and "United States Mint 1988 Olympic Coins." A maroon slipcover, similarly imprinted, protects the box.   A certificate of authenticity is also included.
