In 1986 our greatest lady, the Statue of Liberty, will be 100 years old. To celebrate this great event, the United States Mint, by Act of Congress, has produced United States Liberty Coins. These are the first coins ever issued by the United States Government depicting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. These coins are legal tender of the United States.
Coins in this set include:
1986-S US Statue of Liberty Silver Dollar Proof
Obverse - Frontal view of the Statue of Liberty
Reverse - Liberty's torch
1986-S US Statue of Liberty Half Dollar Proof

The coins are housed in a plastic capsules placed on a blue felt tray within a blue velvet presentation case with hinged lid on which was mounted a plaque of a heraldic eagle. The case is in a cardboard box imprinted with the Great Seal and "United States Liberty Coins". A blue slipcover, similarly imprinted, protects the box.
