The 1991-1995 World War II Silver Proof Dollar was issued in 1993 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of America’s involvement in World War II from 1941 to 1945.

The obverse of the silver proof dollar features an American soldier on the shores of Normandy on June 6, 1944, known as D-Day.   The obverse inscriptions read “D-Day June 6, 1944”, “In God We Trust”, “Liberty”, and the dual date “1991” and “1995”.

The reverse features a quote from Dwight D. Eisenhower with sleeve insignia from the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force. The obverse and reverse were both designed by Thomas D. Rodgers Sr.  The reverse inscriptions include “United States of America”, “E Pluribus Unum”, the denomination “One Dollar” and the quote “I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full victory!”

The Silver Proof Dollars were produced at the West Point Mint.

The coin is housed in a plastic capsule. This coin is proof quality, which means it meets the finest standards in the industry for both beauty and craftsmanship, carefully designed to represent the best possible versions of the original model.
