It is often said that the future lies in space. Poised on the launch pad to the next millennium, Canada’s voyage of discovery promises to be one of energy, ability and achievement. The vast, final frontier is a prospect that is embraced by Canadians and celebrated on the reverse of the coin by artist Donald F Warkentin.
The design features a “crown” of lunar phases, a human figure outstretched toward the solar system; a stylised space shuttle and its boosters; solar panels reflecting the Earth’s atmosphere and robotic arms. Combined, these elements from a stylised maple leaf. The triangular shapes at is base symbolise the power of launch.
The coin comes encapsulated and presented in a branded beauty box.
