For 1997, in the first year of its issue, The Royal Mint struck a Proof version of the new circulating £2 coin in sterling (.925) silver.

The elaborate reverse design, comprising four concentric circles emanating from the heart of the coin, celebrates the development of technology from the Iron Age to today's age of cyberspace.  With it's continuning outward movement, this innovative design skilfully unites both past and present, while also alluding to the possibilies the future may hold.

The Bi-metalic coin is Silver with the outer circle being coated in gold plate. The edge inscription reads: STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS.

Encapsulated and housed in the original Royal Mint box with the Certificate of Authenticity it is a must for any FIRST ISSUE collectors.
