The Girl Guides centenary is celebrated with a 50p coin. Its commemorative design features six logos which surround the central Girlguiding UK Logo. These represent each stage in the organisation, from the Rainbow Promise Badge to the Trefoil Guild Promise Bade. They symbolise the journey every Girl Guide undertakes, and also portray the strength and diversity of the organisation while their abstract arrangement and interlinking form convey a sense of protection, trust and unity.
The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.

Piedfort coins originated in medieval France. The name signifies "heavy measure", a term still entirely appropriate to the Piedfort today since, struck on thicker than normal blanks, a silver Piedfort coin is customarily double the thickness and so double the weight of its standard silver counterpart.
Each Piedfort silver Proof coin is housed in a black presentation case and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
