This 2018 Silver Proof release of the Royal Mint's Britannia series features Philip Nathan's iconic rendition of Britannia encircled by a geometric, Oriental design border inspired by the Chinese-themed rooms located within Buckingham Palace and the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, and the British trade dollars issued in the 19th century to encourage trade with Asia. Having a mintage limited to only 2,500, the proof is struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver with a diameter measurement of 38.61 mm.
Helmeted Britannia is portrayed standing on the reverse, with trident, shield and olive branch in hand. The traditional inscriptions of "ONE OUNCE 999 SILVER" and "BRITANNIA" are located near the trident, allowing for an uninterrupted Oriental styled border. Additional inscriptions include "2018" and "NATHAN."
The obverse features the fifth definitive effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as envisioned by Royal Mint Designer Jody Clark. Inscribed "ELIZABETH II," "D.G. REG. F.D." and "2 POUNDS."
The NGC Slabbed and graded coin also comes witth a presentation / storage pouch and an original certificate of Authenticity from the Royal Mint.
