This tiny South Pacific island nation consists of three tropical coral atolls with a combined land area of just 4 square miles and a population of just 1,400. It issued its first coins in 1978, although these bear the Queen's head, as head of The Commonwealth, her name and titles are not shown.
The obverse of this Silver coin shows the likness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, with the words "TOKELAU 1979".
The reverse features a large fishing hook, a bucket and rope, along with the words "Tahi Tala" and "$1".
The coin is housed in a protective plastic capsule and presented in the original black case, with the words "TOKELAU" in silver lettering on the front.
