PROOF COIN SET ISSUED BY THE NEW ZEALAND TREASURY

One Dollar ($1) - Weight - 27.216gms - Diameter 38.735mm - 0.925 Silver (grained edge)

This 50th anniversary coin was struck to commemorate the issuing of their own currency in 1933.  The worls "One Dollar" appear around the upper left quarter of the periphery.  

The obverse design on all coins in this set shows the Arnold Machin effigy of Her Majesty the Queen, with the inscription "Elizabeth II New Zealand 1983", around the periphery.

Fifty Cents (50c) - Weight - 13.608gs - Diameter 31.750mm - Cupro-Nickel

Edge has 5 equally spaced 6.350mm segments separated by graining.  Captain James Cook's bark "Endeavour" sailing south, with Mount Egmont in the distance below the figure "50".

Twenty Cents (20c) - Weight - 11.31gms - Diameter 28.575mm - Cupro-Nickel (grained edge)

A kiwi, facing right, with fronds of a New Zealand tree fern in lower relief background.

Ten Cents (10c) - Weight - 5.655gms - Diameter 23.662mm - Cupro-Nikel (grained edge)

A maori carved head under the figure 10 with Maori rafter pattern around.

Five Cents (5c) - Weight - 2.828gms - Diameter 19.431mm - Cupro-Nickel (grained edge)

A tuatara curled up on a coastal rock which is superimposed the figure 5.

Two Cents (2c) - Weight - 4.147gms - Diameter 21.082 - Bronze (plain edge)

Two golden kowhai blossoms and leaves around the figure 2.

One Cent (1c) - Weight - 2.074gms - Diameter 17.526mm - Bronze (plain edge)

A small fern leaf enclosing the figure 1.

The coins are encapsulated in a perspex presentation case and housed in the original packaging.
