GIANT OF THE FOREST - THE BIG LEAF MAPLE

British Columbia (Canada) is home to one of the giants of the Maple family – the Bigleaf Maple.  This magnificent tree grows up to 30m (100 ft) tall, with leaves among the largest of any tree native to Canada – up to 60cm (2 ft) wide.

This coin is certified to be 99.99% pure Silver and has a nominal value of $5 Canadian.  Designed by Royal Canadian Mint engraver Stan Witten, the coin depicts a twig of emerging leafs in various stages of development and a magnificent cluster of showy flowers.  The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, by Susanna Blunt.

The coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon display case with an insert, which houses the coin and is protected by a black beauty box.
