1996 1oz Silver KANGAROO (Display Card)

This legal tender coin cannot normally be found in Australia's circulating currency.  It is a special issue created by the Royal Australian Mint for coin collectors and international visitors and has unique heirloom and gift value.

The reverse design features a portrait of an Eastern Grey Kangaroo and her Joey.  The coin is guaranteed to be one troy ounce of fine silver and at 40mm diameter it is truly distinctive.  Another special feature of this remarkable coin is its "reverse frosting", where proof-like characteristics have been achieved by highly polishing the raised images on a delicately frosted background.

The Silver Kangaroo featured on the reverse was designed and sculped by Horst Hahne, Chief Engraver, Royal Australian Mint, Canberra.
