New Zealand issued new $1 and $2 coins to replace its bank notes of similar value.
Following the introduction of the new coins, the notes will remain legal tender, but will gradually disappear from circulation as they are returned to the Reserve Bank. No further notes will be issued following the public release of the coins.
In order to commemorate this historic event, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, in conjunction with the Royal Mint, has fashioned this unique collectors' item featuring the frist minted $1 and $2 coins crafted in brilliant uncirculated condition, alongside the very last printed series of $1 and $2 notes in crisp, uncirculated condition.
This blend of the old and the new will serve as a lasting momento of this moment of change and will be a valuable addition to the history and evolution of New Zealand's range of notes and coins.
This collectors' piece is strictly limited to 10,000 sets and is presented in a beautifully-illustrated presentation folder.
