The Gateshead Millennium Bridge now features on the reverse of the one-pound coin for 2007 and, representing England, completes the series of four created by Edwina Ellis to represent the four constituent parts of the United Kingdom.
The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is the world's first and only tilting bridge - its awe-inspiring appearance and engineering have generated worldwide interest and it takes its place at the end of a line of distinguished bridges across the River Tyne, including the Tyne Bridge and Robert Stephenson's High level Bridge.
