On 24th October 2003, Concorde made its final flight.  For twenty-seven years the supersonic aircraft fascinated people around the world and it was a sad day when British Airways and Air France announced that the aircraft would be permanently grounded from autumn 2003, bringing to an end a significant chapter in the history of aviation.

To celebrate almost three decades of supersonic travel the Royal Mint, together with the Channel Island of Alderney, issued a special commemorative crown.

Designed by Royal Mint Engraver Emma Noble, the reverse features an image of Concorde in flight superimposed upon an interpretation of the plane's undercarriage.  The obverse shows Raphael Maklouf's elegant portrait of Her Majesty the Queen.

Struck to Brilliant Uncirculated standard, this magnificent coin is housed in a beautifully illustrated presentation folder.
