When The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their first born son on 22nd July the world celebrated his safe arrival.  The new baby - third in line to the throne - was named Prince George Alexander Louis a few days later, his name recalling six monarchs named King George, George VI being the baby's great-great grandfather, the much loved father of Her Majesty the Queen.

Never before has a Royal birth been commemorated on the coinage, and as Prince George is christened a beautiful and traditional coin has been struck in his honour, the very first time that the christening of a Royal baby has been marked.

Struck by the Royal Mint to an unblemished Brilliant Uncirculated finish, this £5 coin has been protectively encapsulated.
