"Special Millennium Dome Mint Mark Dated 2000"

The year 2000, a bright new dawn and a very special year, one that heralded not just a new decade and century, but a brand new millennium - ushering in a bold new era in human history. Up and down the country, an epic year of celebrations, events and attractions were planned and the biggest of them all was the Millennium Dome - a huge arena hosting themed events, attractions and an exhibition, built on reclaimed land in Greenwich in South East London. This exquisite £5 coin, featuring a clock design by Jeffrey Matthews, commemorates a year like no other.

To commemorate the Millennium in 2000, The Royal Mint released a Limited Issue Brilliant Uncirculated Millennium £5 Coin which was minted at the Millennium Dome with a special Dome Mint Mark.

In the centre, on a patterned circle on the reverse, there is a representation of the British Isles with a pair of clock hands emanating from Greenwich, set at 12 o'clock with the inscription "Anno Domini" with the denomination "five pounds" and dated "1999" and "2000" designed by Jeffrey Matthews.

The obverse design is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley.
