A certificate accompanies this stunning 1oz silver coin which forms part of the 1999 Australian Kookaburra silver bullion coin series, minted and inspected by The Perth Mint, Western Australia.
The coin bears a special privy mark of the spectacular bi-metal 1999-dated proof Perth Mint Centenary Sovereign, released on 20th June 1999 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the opening of The Perth Mint in 1899.
The privy mark design features a gold insert of Pistrucci's original St George and the Dragon design, complete with a 'P100' mintmark where the date normally appears. The silver border of the privy mark incorporates the lettering "The Perth Mint Centenary Sovereign 1899 - 1999".
The coin honours both the histroic role of the sovereign and the importance of gold and silver in the Mint's heritage. The Perth Mint has been Australia's major gold and silver refiner since 1899, and 100 years on, it is still producing gold and silver coins for investors and collectors around the world.
Each Australian Kookaburra coin is made from 99.9% fine silver. The design of the host coin depicts an adult and a juvenile kookaburra sitting on a wattle branch.
