Celebration of Britian - The Churchill Coin
The Churchill £5 coin has been struck by the Royal Mint specifically in celebration of our great nation as we count down to the London 20212 Olympic and Paralympic Games while at the same time paying homage to the heritage of Britain and its people.
Designer Shane Greeves worked closely with Royal Mint Engraving Team to produce this special coin that combines a stirring quote with a symbolic image to encapsulate the emotion, the wonders and greatness of Britain and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The courage and determination shown by Sir Winston Churchill will be vital qualities for Britain's Olympians and Paralympians as they "go for gold" in the London 2012 Games, while the quote by Anita Roddick captures the essence the Games will give to the world.
Struck in cupro-nickel to Proof quality, this £5 UK legal tender coin serves as an official product of London 2012 and features the London 2012 logo in colour, whilst the obverse carries the Queen's portrait by British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.
