The circus as we know it dates back to the 1760's, the brainchild of English cavalryman, Philip Astley, who, taken by the idea of performing daredevil riding exhibitions, roped off a filed near London, and set about it.  Astley later introduced novelty acts such as clowns, jugglers and tightrope walkers, the modern circus was born.

The 2002 $10 Republic of Sierra Leaon Coin is a stunning coin that will make a great addition to any coin collection. This highly collectable coin has been specially designed and features Year of the Horse on the reverse of coin.

The coin is protectively encapsulated within the stunning colourful coin cover.

The Circus is 2002's theme for Europa stamps.  The Royal Mail stamps featured form Britain's first set dedicated to this unique form of entertainment.  The stamps are postmarked on their first day of issue - 9th April, 2002.
