HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II 70TH BIRTHDAY COMMEMORATIVE - PHILATELIC NUMISMATIC COVER
The new crown of 1996 celebrates the Queen's 70th birthday and for the reverse Avril Vaughan has created a design that directly relates to the Queen herself. Windsor Castle, her royal residence in Berkshire, forms a fitting backdrop to the Queen's personal flag, the Royal Standard and the Union Flag which, fluttering proudly, bestow an appropriately celebratory feel to the design.
In addition to the crown, the PNC also includes a special Commemorative Lavel issued by Royal Mail. The Label designed by John Stibbe is based on a border and ceiling in one of the Queen's State Rooms at Windsor Caslte. The design features the rose, thistle and shamrock.
