2004 BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED £2 COIN - THE BICENTENARY OF STEAM

LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 9,500

This striking £2 coin issued in 2004 celebrates 200 years of British steam engines and Trevithick's achievements are celebrated on this striking cover, with a stunning combination of coins and stamps.

The Royal Mail Classic Locomotives stamps feature six breathtaking images of locomotives from the "golden age of steam".  The stamps are postmarked on their First Day of Issue, 13th January 2004 at Penydarren, Merthyr Tydfil.  The coin selected is the 2004 Royal Mint £2 coin.

Issued for one year only, the superb brilliant uncirculated  coin also commemorates the 200th anniversary of Trevithick's achievement.  The beautifully realised reverse design shows his pioneering locomotive, Penydarren, in amazing detail.

The obverse shows Ian Rank-Broadley's regal portrait of Her Majesty the Queen.
