THE MILLENNIUM DOME COIN FIRST DAY COVER

The Millennium Dome, Greenwich, London is the largest domed structure in the world designed to be the centrepiece of the UK's millennial celebrations.  The "Millennium Experience" in the Dome, will run throughout the year 2000 and is expected to attract an estimated 2 million visitors.

The Great Britain 1998 £2 coin depicts the theme of development of man through time, each ring on the reverse of the coin actually represents a different age of technical discovery.  Designed by Bruce Rushin, this bi-metallic coin has been issued in sterling silver, whilst the outer ring is plated in fine gold.  Inscribed on the edge with the saying "Standing On the Shoulders of Giants", the coin clearly signifies the advances made by man, in particular during the Twentieth Century as we head towards the New Millennium.

This superb Coin First Day Cover also features the Royal Mail's very first Millennium stamp, "Timekeeping".  The stamp is postmarked on the First Day of Issue 12th January, 1999 at Greenwich.
