1995 WILLIAM WYON 1795-1851 BICENTENARY - PHILATELIC MEDALLIC COVER
The medal has been designed by the sculptor Philip Nathan, who for the obverse has created a magnificent portrait of Wyon from contemporary illustrations.
The reverse pays tribute to Wyon's work for both the Royal Mint and Royal Mail by showing what are perhaps Wyon's two best-known portraits of Queen Victoria, those of the "Young Head" coins and the Penny Black stamp.
