The Golden Jubilee celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Queen’s accession.  For fifty years now she has been a trusted, familiar figure to millions of people throughout Britain and the Commonwealth.

Beautiful images illustrate the Queen’s 50 years of service to the Commonwealth in this commemorative stamp and coin cover which features a Commemorative 50c coin.

The 50c coin was originally scheduled for release into circulation in late 2002, but due to a backlog of the 2001 50c pieces the decision was made not to release this as a circulating coin. It has become one of the most sought after covers and one of the lowest mintage 50 cent pieces.

The cover showcases the 50th Anniversary of Accession 50c Coin and two commemorative stamps, one each 45c and $2.45, both were jointly issued by Australia Post and the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra on 6th February 2002.  The postage stamps have been cancelled with a special ink mark which reads 'First Day of Issue 6th February 2002 Elizabeth SA 5112'.

The 50c coin was produced by the Royal Australian Mint as a memento of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee; designed by Peter Soobik and sculpted by Vladimir Gottwald.
