Commemorating the 80th Anniverary of Battle of Britain

A certificate accompanies this beautiful coin commemorating 80 years since the Battle of Britain.  Struck by the Perth Mint from 1/4oz of 99.99% pure gold in proof quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

The Battle of Britain took place over southern England and the English Channel between July and October 1940.  Putting Britain's Royal Air Force (RAF) against the German Luftwaffe, it was the first major campaign of the Second World War to be fought entirely by air forces.

The coin's reverse portays representation of six Spitfire fighter planes against a stylised cloud, which surrounds the inscription '80TH ANNIVERSARY BATTLE of BRITAIN' and The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark also appears in the design.

The Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, weight and purity, and the 2020 year-date are shown on the coin's obverse.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 500 of the 80th Anniversary 2020 1/4oz Gold Proof Coin.
