A WHIRLWIND TOUR OF THE WORLD

As a multi-cultural nation with ancient societies at its core, Canada is home to a wealth of soul-nourishing festivals that celebrate the past and foster a new vision for the future.  Old traditions from a multitude of nations are combined with modern ideas to create new customs that enrich this nation as a whole.  Canada's festivals amaze, inspire, and delight its residents as well as those who visit.

The construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway in the 19th century opened up the west for Canada's European immigrants. They came from Russia, Germany and Ukraine to settle on the vast prairies of Manitoba.  Over the years, other nations followed.  By the time Manitoba celebrated its 100th birthday in 1970, the diversity of the province's rich cultural heritage provided the perfect focal point for its centennial celebrations.  Twenty-one pavilions were established and an astounding 75,000 people came out to participate in the multi-cultural extravaganza.

Folklorama is an energetic and electric collection of food, music, dance, and drama, complete with master performers who travel to bring their exceptional talent to audiences around the globe.
