Queen Elizabeth II was born Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary on 21st April 1926 and was Queen of New Zealand since her accession on 6th February 1952.  2016 marked her 90th birthday.  Her reign was filled with many incredible milestones, including being the longest-lived sovereign in history, the monarch with the longest marriage and Britain's longest-reigning monarch.

This beautiful 1oz Silver Proof coin with selective gold plating celebrates this significant birthday of Queen Elizabeth II with a photographs of her as a baby in her christening gown, being held by her parents.  The photo has been pronted using a minted photo technique to give an authentic photographic look of the time.  The gold frame surrounding the photo has been minted in high relief and features New Zealand's iconic pohutukawa flowers.
