2018 Silver Proof Ten Pence - The Great British Coin Hunt - W

In 2018 The Royal Mint released 26 commemorative 10p coin designs. Their theme is the A to Z of Britain and each coin combines a letter of the alphabet with an aspect of quintessential Britishness.

This is the first time The Royal Mint has produced a series of commemorative 10p coins and each 10p coin has been struck in .925 Sterling Silver to a Proof finish.

W is for World Wide Web  - This 10p features the letter W, which sits on a picture of a spiders web.  Invented by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989 – the World Wide Web connects the entire world at the click of a button. It’s allowed us to reconnect with lost friends and family and document our everyday lives to the entire world.

Starting with noisy old dial up to superfast fibre optic broadband, the World Wide Web is without doubt one of the greatest inventions in human history.

From the first web browser page in 1990, to Google, Wikipedia and Social Media, it’s impossible to imagine life without it.

The coin is protectively encapsulated in a Perspex presentation block and housed in the original Royal Mint outer case.
