2005 Silver Proof BRITANNIA 4 Coin Set - Seated Design

The set, comprises four denominations: £2 (1oz), £1 (1/2oz), 50p (1/4oz) and 20p (1/10th oz) – all struck to Proof standard in Britannia .958 pure Silver – They are Britain’s purest Silver coins. The reverse of each bears Philip Nathan’s new Britannia design, the fifth in the Britannia series, bearing a traditional representation of the Britannia pose.

Britannia is seated atop a craggy rock, looking out to sea, with her robes blowing in the wind. In her right hand Britannia holds a shield, emphasising her protection of the British Isles, wile the Laural bush in front of her symbolises her love of peace. Her helmet and the Trident clasped in her left hand, emphasis that se is not defenceless. The obverse of the coin bears Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of the Queen.

With an issue limit of only 3,500 for the 4 Coin Sets, they will be a rarity in years to come.
