1981 Crown – Marriage of Charles & Diana

This legal tender cupro-nickel crown commemorates the marriage of His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales with the Lady Diana Spencer at St Paul’s Cathedral on the 29th July 1981.

Obverse: The second (decimal) portrait of the Queen facing right, designed by Arnold Machin.  ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F D.

Reverse: Conjoined profile portraits of Charles & Diana, facing left, in an informal and contemporary portrayal, designed by Philip Nathan, a former Royal Mint engraver. Inscription reads “HRH THE PRINCE OF WALES AND LADY DIANA SPENCER 1981”.
