2004 Congo (RDC) POPE JOHN PAUL II 1 FRANC UNC 25Th ANNIVERSARY 4 Coin Set. 

During his papal reign, Pope John Paul II made more foreign trips than all previous popes, many to places no pope ever visited.  His travels resulted in unprecedented progress toward uniting the world in peace.  In 1980 he was the first pope ever to visit the Republic of Congo.  To commemorate the 25^th anniversary of that historic visit and highlight his life’s work, the Republic of Congo authorised the striking of this special issue, four-piece set of 1 franc coins, each showing different portraits of Karol Wojtyla as he appeared at the milestones of his career.

Pere Wojtyla 1946 – Ordained priest, 1^st November 1946.

Cardinal Wojtyla 1967 – Consecrated Cardinal in Sistine Chapel by Pope VI, 28^th June 1967.

Pape Jean Paul II 1978 – Elected 264^th Pope by College of Cardinals, 16^th October 1978.
