The Central Bank of Malta issues numismatic and collector coins to commemorate important dates, events or people, of both local and international interest.
The annual coin programme is issued in January and is published on the Bank’s website as well as in the local media. The themes are proposed by a Currency Advisory Board and approved by the Bank. Design and engraving of the coins is undertaken by experts in the field. The coins are produced by renowned European Mints to ensure high quality standards.
