This stunning UK 50p was authorised for release to celebrate Team GB and mark the 2020 Tokyo Olympics held in 2021. The coin was originally scheduled for release in 2020, however, was delayed due to the Olympic Games being postponed and rescheduled to 2021 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This was the first time that the games had been rescheduled rather than cancelled and consequently, the coin is dual-dated. The reverse by David Knapton features various sporting images alongside “Team GB” and the date “2020” to mark the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Struck by the Royal Mint to an unblemished Brilliant Uncirculated finish, each of these 50p coins have been protectively encapsulated and features a security hologram to certify its superior quality.
