2002 BU £5 Crown Collection - HM QEII Golden Jubilee Equestrian

The three magnificient crowns in this collection celebrate three important milestones in the long reign of Her Majesty the Queen - her Coronation, her Silver Jubilee and her Golden Jubilee.

Harmoniously united in their choice of an equestrian portrait of the Queen, the crowns not only relfect her lifelone love of horses but also the regal and ceremonial aspect of the Queen's reign. In this they continue a fine numismatic  tradition begun by the very first silver crown of Edward VI and provide a perfect series to mark the Queen's fifty years of distinguished service to her country and the commonwealth.

1953 Coronation Crown - the reverse of the Coronation Crown follows in the heraldic tradition of British coinage and features the four quarterings of the Royal Arms.  The floral emblems of the constituent parts of the United Kingdom are also featured, Wales being represented on the coinage for the first time in the Queen's coronation year.  The face value of this crown, as it had been for centuries is five shillings.

1977 Silver Jubilee Crown - the reverse of the Silver Jubilee Crown recalls the Coronation of the Queen by incorporating with a decorative border those ancient and sacred symbols of monarchy, the ampulla and anoiting spoon.  The denomination of this Crown was 25p, reflecting, in the new age of decimal coinage, the decimal equivalent of five shillings.

2002 Golden Jubilee Crown - unusually for a United Kingdom coin, the reverse of the Golden Jubilee coin bears a portrait of the reigning monarch.  The mature and reflective portrait of the Queen in robes and diadem represents the Queen in the fiftieth year of her reign, in contrast to the younger portrait on the obverse.  The denomination of the Crown was raised to five pounds in 1990.

The Crowns are beautifully housed in a colourful presentation folder, with information featured and are of uncirculated quality and have been carefully handled to avoid damage.
