150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE CRIMEAN WAR

In 2004 to commemorate the Lady with the Lamp, Florence Nightingale and the 150th Anniversary since the Crimean War, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Florence Nightingale £5 Five Pound coin.

Florence Nightingale was born in the Italian city of Florence on 12th May 1820.  She is famous for raising the status of nursing from being a job normally associated with the working classes, to a respectable career suitable for women regardless of their social status.

The reverse depicts Florence Nightingale, while obverse has the stunning portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf.
