The certificate accompanies a 1oz Gilded Edition coin from the Australian Lunar Silver Coin Series – 2006 Year of the Dog, minted and inspected by the Perth Mint.  The coin is legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and is struck from 99.9% pure silver in specimen quality, with selective gilding on the reverse.

In Chinese culture, people born in the year of the Dog are regarded as loyal, trustworthy, honest and ethical.

The coin’s reverse depicts a German Shepherd, which has been gilded in 24-carat gold.  The design includes the Chinese character for ‘dog’ and the 2006 year-date.  These elements appear within a border of bats and clouds symbolising health, peace and prosperity.

The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are show on the obverse.

Just 50,000 of these 2006 Gilded Dog coins will be released worldwide.

The proof is encapsulated in plastic, packaged in a special, gold coloured plush presentation case, accompanied by a numbered certificate.
