Granted for 15 years commissioned service (sub-lieutenant and above) in the Royal Naval Reserve, active service in wartime counting double.

Ribbon - Plain green ribbon, white edges being added from 1941 onwards.

Metal - Silver and silver-gilt.

Description - A skeletal badge with the royal cypher in silver surrounded by an oval cable and reef knot in silver-gilt, surmounted by a crown and suspension ring.

Pin mounted and cased as issued.
