The United Nations Service Medal for Korea (UNSMK) is an international military decoration which was established on 12th December 1950. The decoration was the first international award ever created by the United Nations and recognised the multi-national defense forces which participated in the Korean War.

This is the only United Nations medal that is unique and different in the medal itself. Every medal has a fixed bar with the word KOREA. The medals ribbon is made up of 17 equal stripes of UN blue and white.

Qualifying time for the medal is 30 days of service in the Mission, in either Korea or Japan. Subsequent tours of the same regions would be denoted with a numeral attached to the ribbon.
