This beautiful Gold Proof 1/4oz commemorative coin celebrated the 95th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II on 5th April 2021, the first British monarch to reach this remarkable milestone.
The reverse of the coin depicts at its centre the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II: E II R, crowned with St Edward's Crown. The monogram is set over a bunch of floral emblems representing the four constituent countries of the United Kingdom; the rose of England, the thistle of Scotland, the shamrock of Ireland and a daffodil for Wales, tied below with a ribbon. The artist's monogram TN (for Timothy Noad) is within the ribbon tying the flowers, on the right side and above the D of DEVOTION.
The obverse of the coin depicts the crowned old head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem crown worn for her Coronation (her effigy known as the "Fifth Portrait"). In small letters below the head, the artist’s initials JC (for Jody Clark). Running continuously around the effigy is the monarch's legend, followed by the date of issue and the face value: ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 25 POUNDS · 2021 ·.
