The Royal Canadian Mint is proud to present the 1986 proof set of Canadian coinage. This is the only set available which contains both the 1986 silver and nickel dollars. The set also includes 50 cents, 25 cents, 10 cents, 5 cents and 1 cent – a total of 7 coins.
The silver dollar marks the 100th anniversary of the inauguration of the transcontinental railroad and the centenary of the city of Vancouver. The reverse depicts engine number 371 and the first transcontinental passenger train with the city of Vancouver in the background. The nickel dollar bears the popular design of the Indian and Voyageur in a canoe which appears on the first Canadian silver dollar issued in 1935.
The set is presented in a black box with a burgundy satin interior and is accompanied with a Royal Canadian Mint information card and black beauty box.
