In 2018 The Royal Mint released 26 commemorative 10p coin designs. Their theme is the A to Z of Britain and each coin combines a letter of the alphabet with an aspect of quintessential Britishness.
This is the first time The Royal Mint has produced a series of commemorative 10p coins and each 10p coin has been struck in .925 Sterling Silver to a Proof finish.
P is for Postbox - This 10p features a Postbox sat alongside the letter "P" and celebrates the postbox or the pillarbox. It was not until 1874 that the bright red colour was chosen to replace the 1859 green that had been introduced to standardise the boxes.
The coin is protectively encapsulated in a Perspex presentation block and housed in the original Royal Mint outer case.
