2018 Silver Proof Ten Pence - The Great British Coin Hunt - S

In 2018 The Royal Mint released 26 commemorative 10p coin designs. Their theme is the A to Z of Britain and each coin combines a letter of the alphabet with an aspect of quintessential Britishness.

This is the first time The Royal Mint has produced a series of commemorative 10p coins and each 10p coin has been struck in .925 Sterling Silver to a Proof finish.

S is for Stonehenge  - This 10p features the letter S next to a picture of Stonehenge, which celebrates our Great British heritage with perhaps the world’s most famous prehistoric monument.  Shrouded in mystery, the historical site of Stonehenge, located in located in Wiltshire, England, is often considered to be the world’s most famous prehistoric monument.

The first monument at Stonehenge was built in approximately 3,000 BC and comprised a circular earthwork. By 2,500 BC this original site was changed with huge sarsen stones and smaller bluestone were raised, to form the incredible monument we see today.

Added to UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites in1986, Stonehenge continues to be one of Britain’s biggest tourist attractions to date.

The coin is protectively encapsulated in a Perspex presentation block and housed in the original Royal Mint outer case.
