The Great Engravers - William Wyon RA

William Wyon is one of the finest engravers in numismatic history.  Working in collaboration with the artist William Dyce RA and inspired by a renewed interest in  medieval art and architecture, the Gothic Crown is one of the last works Wyon produced for British coinage before his dealth in 1851.  Acknowledged as one of the world's most beautiful coins, the Gothic Crown returns in this new presentation as part of a series of classic designs remastered by the Royal Mint.

The reverse of the coin features William Wyon's crowned bust portrait of Queen Victoria and her dress can be seen with emblems that represent three parts of the UK (England, Ireland and Scotland). The inscription appears in gothic style script.

The obverse of each coin features the fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
