The Great Engravers - William Wyon RA

William Wyon is one of the finest engravers to have worked on British coinage.  When he produced The Three Graces he was relatively unknown and this beautiful design heralded the arrival of an extraordinary talent.  Acknowledged as a triumph of numismatic art, Wyon's celebrated work is the second in a series of classic designs that has been remastered by the Royal Mint.

The reverse features the iconic 'Three Graces' design, by William Wyon, which shows Britannia, Hibernia and Scotia. The coin features the Latin words “FOEDUS INVIOLABILE” meaning 'An Unbreakable Treaty'.

The obverse of each coin features the fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
